Our Mission
CCJA provides Colorado youth and adult musicians unique opportunities for
the study and performance of jazz, offering them the ability to explore their creativity
and voices, both individually and collectively. Under the mentorship of professional jazz musicians, CCJA advances and preserves the art form of jazz and positively impacts the larger community.

Why Support CCJA?
Your donation ensures that scholarship support will be available for anyone who needs it. We are proud of the fact that we have never in our 25-year history turned away a student because of financial need.
Students of all ages – from elementary school students to retirees – are welcome in CCJA’s inclusive and thriving community. This includes over 300 underserved DPS elementary school students at Cowell Elementary, who are learning music appreciation and the basics of rhythm and creative improvisation through our on-site programs.
We believe music is a universal right, one that brings unity and joy to all who come together to create it and experience it.
As the original American musical art form, jazz is an important part of our nation’s history and culture. Encompassing blues and funk to Latin jazz and Bossa Nova, jazz is continuously evolving and allows musicians to express their own unique ideas within a well-developed structure. The audience is a key component of the live performance experience as well, encouraging musicians with their appreciation and participation.
